Energy ministers agree on a shared gas reserve for next winter

Anti-doomscrolling

A feed never ends.
An edition does.

News apps are built to keep you scrolling. Colophon is built to let you stop. Choose 15, 20 or 30 minutes and we write exactly that much, in order of what matters and what changed since you last read. When you reach the end, you're done, and you're up to date.

  1. 01

    Time-boxed

Measured in words, not swipes. The edition fits the minutes you chose.

  2. 02

    Never repeated

Stories you've read don't come back. A follow-up appears only when something actually changed.

  3. 03

    Nothing pulling at you

No infinite scroll, no autoplay, no streaks. One notification: your edition is ready.

Transparency

The colophon of every outlet

In print, the colophon is the small box that tells you who publishes a paper. We put it next to every headline you read.

Ownership, all the way up

From the outlet to the company, the holding and the ultimate owner, with the size of each stake.

Who pays

Subscriptions, advertising, public money, foundations: the mix that keeps each newsroom running.

Perspective, with its sources

Where an outlet sits on left and right, on the government and more. Each rating says where it comes from and how sure we are.

Conflicts, in amber

When a story touches an outlet's own owners, you see it before you read.

Every side

The same story, told by everyone

For each story Colophon gathers how outlets across the spectrum told it: what they agree on, where they differ, which words they chose. You make up your own mind.

“A historic show of unity”

“Reserve agreed, costs still unclear”

Is this another news aggregator?

No. An aggregator gives you a list that never ends. Colophon gives you one written edition with a beginning and an end, built from many sources and sized to your time.

Who writes the editions?

An AI model (Claude, by Anthropic) writes them from the articles published by the outlets, and every edition says so. Each story links to the original articles, so you can always check.

How do you know who owns an outlet?

From public sources such as company registries and Wikidata, plus our own research. Every outlet card shows its sources and how well each fact is verified; estimates are marked as estimates.

Can I read the original articles?

Always. Every story links to the articles it comes from. Outlets with a paywall keep their paywall.

What happens to my data?

We collect only what we need to write your editions. No advertising, no tracking cookies, no data sales, and you can download or delete everything from your settings.

When can I start?

We're opening a closed beta on iPhone and Android first. People on the waitlist get in first, in the order they confirmed.

Be there for the first edition.

Join the waitlist. Once you confirm, you get a personal link: friends who join with it move you up the list.
